I live with my family near the base of Morning Mountain just outside of Nelson BC, Canada. For many years I have worked with young people of all ages. I am continually inspired by their ability to cope with all the learning, growing, and changing that comes with being a kid.
I love waking up early, especially in the summer, to write. It’s quiet in the house, the stars are just starting to fade outside, and a pot of tea is steeping on my desk. Time whisks by me and before I know it I’ve been writing for hours, or maybe it’s been days. Dear Toni, published by Tundra Books, is my first novel.
I also love to garden, and in the summer our garden is full of organic vegetables and flowers. Every year in July hundreds of lavender plants bloom along my driveway. In the fall the leaves on our cherry trees turn orange and yellow and we gather the last bits of fruit from the remaining plum, pear and apple trees in our very old orchard. During the winter the snow is often waist deep, and there have been years when all the snow sliding off the roof stacked up so high it covered the windows on one side of the house. With spring I can be found out on the snow covered lawn raking the last dollops of snow in hopes of making it melt faster. With the emergence of the spring leaves I am full of enthusiasm for all the projects I didn’t get to the year before. Thanks for visiting my website. |
